Can you live healthy over the course of a lifetime? As we develop and age over our lifetime our body goes through many changes. Maintaining a consistent healthy lifestyle throughout these changes is a critical component of each person’s longevity? Can you make choices during your life that will provide an opportunity at a healthy life? Are there choices you make at each stage of life that may be critical to your own longevity?
GOALS!
Your goal is to find THREE illnesses or diseases that may affect YOU in the later stages of life and prescribe a lifestyle (diet and exercise) that you can partake in NOW to be healthy later.
TASK!
In your search for THREE illnesses or diseases that may affect you later in life you must consider many variables. These variables include but are not limited to family history, dietary choices, amount of activity in lifestyle, or bad habits with harmful side effects. Once you have identified your three illnesses or diseases I then want to know what you can do NOW to help prevent them. Explain in detail a lifestyle that would assist you in preventing these illnesses or diseases including dietary choices and exercise. When thinking about diet choices and exercise think about your regular eating habits and amount and type of exercise that you partake in. Will these choices your making now have long term bad effects or must you think about making a lifestyle change NOW to be healthy later? Can you continue with the same type of exercise activities or should you learn lifetime wellness now? There are many answers and only you can choose what will be right for you!
PROCESS
Start by asking family about any illnesses or diseases that seem to occur in a high percentage of your relatives. Then research at such places as www.mic.ki.se/Diseases/Alphalist.html for a starting point of a large number of diseases. If you do not find what you are looking for here then search www.google.com and look for reliable medical sites such as those of government agencies, medical centers or universities. After choosing your three diseases or illnesses then research diets and exercises/activities that will help prevent them. Turn in a complete list and healthy lifestyle maintenance plan along with a bibliography of the websites that you received your information from.
